Report a Marriage or Registered Partnership
Would you like to get married or enter into a registered partnership in the Municipality of Moerdijk? If so, please submit your application online using the button below or in person at the service desk by appointment. You must submit the application for marriage or registered partnership together with your partner. To do so, both of you must log in with your DigiD.
Before you begin the report
- Choose your type of ceremony (free, simple, standard).
- For a traditional ceremony: choose your wedding venue.
- For a traditional ceremony: choose your officiant.
- Decide on the last name you want to use.
- Make sure you have a copy of your ID, your partner's ID, and the IDs of all witnesses.
Terms and Conditions
- The free and simple ceremonies are available exclusively to residents of the municipality of Moerdijk
- You must register your marriage or registered partnership at least 2 weeks in advance
- You are of legal age (18 years or older)
- You are not married and are not in a registered partnership
- You are not immediate family members
- Are you under guardianship? If so, you’ll need permission from your guardian.
Matrimonial Property Law
Since 2018, the limited community of property has been the default regime for marriages and registered partnerships. Before you file your registration, be sure to seek thorough advice on this matter, for example from a notary.
Costs
You must pay the fees immediately upon completing the report. You will need online banking to do this.
Are you married to a non-Dutch national, or have you lived abroad?
In that case, please contact the Civil Affairs Department before filing your application. Often, additional documents from you will be required. For example, if you were born abroad, if you lived there, or if you got divorced there. Or if you do not hold Dutch citizenship. Please do this well in advance of the date of your marriage or registered partnership to avoid disappointment.
Registration of a Marriage Performed Abroad
Were you married abroad? If so, have your marriage recorded in the Basic Register of Persons (BRP). You can do this upon your return to the municipality where you are registered.
