City Hall in Klundert

During the Eighty Years' War, William of Orange surrounded Klundert with ramparts and canals, thus forming—along with Willemstad and other towns—the southern defensive belt against the Spanish. These ramparts can still be partially admired in this small town, which took second place in a European competition for municipal landscaping. On the Stadshuisring in this same town stands Klundert’s pride and joy: the old town hall. A magnificent building constructed in 1621 in the Renaissance style, thanks to a generous contribution from Prince Maurits. The building stands completely freestanding and is surrounded by greenery.

The small, cozy wedding hall on the first floor is, so to speak, perfect for a romantic wedding. Because the town hall is a historic landmark, no renovations are permitted. For this reason, there is no elevator in the building. A maximum of 65 people may be present in the town hall (according to the rules in the occupancy permit). There are 30 seats. The ushers from the Municipality of Moerdijk will ensure that this number is not exceeded.
