Store Displays, General Rules

Retailers in the municipality may set up a display in front of their business without a permit. The rules are summarized below.

Requirements for Display and Size

The display is directly related to the company
Up to 1.5 meters high, 1 meter wide, and 1 meter deep
A maximum of 2 displays per business
No sales from the display
It's easy to remove; it's not attached to the surface

Location of the display

Only on the front of the building (i.e., on one side of the building)
Right up against the company's own facade
If the municipal executive has designated a display area, it must be located only in front of the business owner’s own building (within the width of the facade)
Only on a sidewalk or designated display area

Clearance dimensions:

There must be at least 1.5 meters of unobstructed space around the display.
For bicycle racks and similar structures, a minimum of 3 meters of clear passage must be left
A minimum of 4 square meters of space must remain clear around doors
On sidewalks that are less than 5 meters wide, a clear passage of at least 1.5 meters must be maintained
On sidewalks wider than 5 meters, a clear passage of at least 3.5 meters must be left for emergency services

When should you take down the display?

Outside the company's business hours
During events where the displays are in the way
During work on, under, on, or above the road
If requested by the police, the fire department, or a municipal inspector
