Ukrainians – Learning Dutch

The municipality of Moerdijk offers accessible Dutch language classes at the reception center on Schansdijk in Zevenbergen. These classes are intended for Ukrainian refugees.

Dutch Class at Curio

Curio offers Dutch language classes at various levels. The classes are held at various locations throughout West Brabant. You’ll pay a small fee to participate. You can sign up on the Curio website. Please note that there is a waiting list, so it may take a while before you can start taking classes.

Language Café

At the Language Café, you can practice speaking Dutch. You’ll also get to meet new people. A volunteer will help you with this. The Language Café is free for everyone. No registration is required. The Language Café is held every Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the library in Zevenbergen. The library’s address is the same as that of the town hall: Pastoor van Kessellaan 15 in Zevenbergen.

Language Practice Group

In the Language Practice Group, you’ll practice reading, writing, and speaking Dutch. You’ll do exercises together with other people. A volunteer will help you with this. There are Language Practice Groups in Zevenbergen, Fijnaart, and Helwijk. Participation in the Language Practice Group is free for everyone. You do need to register first, though.

There are three ways to do this:

  • Come to the walk-in consultation hour
    • Every Thursday, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the library in Zevenbergen

Learning Dutch with Books

Did you know that the library in Zevenbergen also has many books to help you practice Dutch? The library has reading books for all age groups. There are also Ukrainian/Dutch children’s books. You can read these books for free at the library. If you want to borrow the books, you’ll need a library card. A library card is free for children under 18.
