Fijnaart Implementation Program

Fijnaart is an important center within the municipality of Moerdijk. The village, which once developed as an agricultural community around the dike and Voorstraat, still maintains close ties with the surrounding polders.

It is a rural village, but centrally located and easily accessible. Fijnaart is an important hub for local services and serves as the heart of the western part of the municipality for the surrounding towns and hamlets. The number of amenities in downtown Fijnaart has been declining for some time, putting pressure on the vitality of the town center. This trend is evident in many places throughout the Netherlands. Fijnaart is therefore seeking a new vision for the town center

to keep the town lively and the community vibrant and connected. In the future, the center of Fijnaart must be more than just a few small shops, the church, and restaurants: it must be and remain an important, connected gathering place, with space for community organizations, events, restaurants, history, (daily) shops, housing, and social services. A village with a vibrant village center full of new energy, of which the Fendert can once again be proud.

An implementation plan with concrete projects supported by residents, business owners, and other stakeholders in downtown Fijnaart. The implementation plan must be realistic (smart prioritization and combination of plans, projects, and budgets). It will begin in 2023, and we aim to finalize it in Q2 2024.
