Safety is a fundamental prerequisite for a pleasant and livable society. The special investigative officers (BOAs) contribute to a healthy, livable, and safe public space in the municipality of Moerdijk. They address nuisances and minor annoyances in the neighborhoods and communities of our municipality. The BOAs help, offer input, issue warnings, and intervene when necessary. Together with colleagues, partners such as the police, and the residents themselves, the BOAs of the municipality of Moerdijk work to make and keep the municipality a great place to live.
Boa officers work in one or more specific neighborhoods or communities
They know those neighborhoods and communities like the back of their hand. They serve as the neighborhood’s hosts and hostesses. They are visible, approachable, and work with passion for the municipality of Moerdijk. They are, literally and figuratively, the eyes and ears of the neighborhoods and communities.
The municipality is divided into several districts. For each district, we have one or more district enforcement officers. The districts are:
- Zevenbergen and Langeweg
- Moerdijk Port and Industry, Zevenbergschen Hoek, and Moerdijk (village)
- Willemstad, Klundert, Noordhoek, Tonnekreek, and Helwijk
- Fijnaart, Heijningen, Oudemolen, Standdaarbuiten, Zwingelspaan, and the Dintelmond Industrial Park.
Special enforcement officers enforce regulations regarding common nuisances
Think of nuisances caused by people on the street, litter, and parking violations. If necessary, special enforcement officers (BOAs) will take action. They address people about their behavior and, when necessary, issue fines. BOAs work to keep the neighborhoods and towns within the municipality of Moerdijk safe and to ensure a pleasant living environment.
Special enforcement officers also work in plain clothes for certain operations or when addressing various nuisances. After all, you tend to notice more when you’re dressed as a civilian. If you’re approached by a special enforcement officer in plain clothes, they will always identify themselves immediately.

Key Responsibilities
Many of our special enforcement officers have one or more specialized areas of responsibility. These include animal welfare, towing, youth affairs, market supervision, hospitality, and countering subversion.
Regulator
All of our special enforcement officers are appointed as supervisors by the municipality of Moerdijk; for example, they are appointed to enforce the General Local Public Order Bylaw (A.P.V.) and the Waste Management Ordinance. The special enforcement officers/inspectors prepare reports following inspections and work closely with enforcement attorneys to address public nuisances. They also inspect events to ensure they comply with the requirements specified in the permit.
