Incidents at Home and in the Neighborhood

Safety and feeling safe naturally begin in and around your own home and in your neighborhood. Preventing burglaries, fire prevention, combating domestic violence, keeping criminal activity out of your neighborhood, and preventing nuisance from neighbors: these are all important factors when it comes to a safe home. However, as the municipality of Moerdijk, we cannot ensure this on our own. Because safety and feeling safe encompass various aspects, we collaborate with various agencies wherever possible. But in some cases, there are steps you can take yourself.

Burglary Prevention

Want to minimize the risk of a break-in? You can—by taking a few preventive measures.

• Make your home burglar-proof. Have a free home inspection performed, and then, if necessary, secure your home in accordance with official guidelines. 
• Moerdijk has Neighborhood Watch teams. Each team “keeps watch” over the quality of life and safety in a specific neighborhood. You can join:Moerdijk Neighborhood Watch.

Fire Prevention

Want to minimize the risk of a fire? Then make sure your home is as fire-safe as possible.

Neighbor Nuisance

It can happen to anyone: a conflict with your neighbors. Fortunately, most neighbors are able to work things out together. Sometimes, however, this isn’t possible. What can you do in such a case?

Domestic Violence

Are you a victim of domestic violence? Or do you strongly suspect that someone you know is a victim of domestic violence or child abuse? Please contact Veilig Thuis West-Brabant. Professional social workers will then work with you to determine whether help is needed and, if so, what kind of help is required. Call 0800 2000,or visit the Domestic Violence website.

Serious Crime

Serious crime has long since ceased to be an issue confined to the national or international level. The consequences of serious crime (such as drug trafficking and production, and fraud) are sometimes felt in Moerdijk as well. Moerdijk has opted for a tough approach, accompanied by a zero-tolerance policy. In doing so, we always work closely with the police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, among others, whenever possible.
