Assistance for the Homeless and Those Without a Roof Over Their Heads

It can happen to anyone: finding yourself without a place to live. For example, due to a conflict at home, a breakup or divorce, the death of a loved one, or the loss of income and a job.

Are you homeless or at risk of becoming homeless? Are you living on the street? Are you staying with family, friends, or acquaintances and don’t have a permanent place to live? See below to find out what options are available for your situation.

I'm an adult

Are you homeless, or are you at risk of becoming homeless within 4 weeks?

  • Please contact the Central Reception Desk for assistance or shelter. They will assess what is appropriate for your situation, and if possible, refer you to appropriate assistance or a temporary shelter or place to stay.
  • Do you need help with forms, allowances, or applying for benefits? Please contact Surplus’s Money & Legal team.

Are you at risk of becoming homeless in more than 4 weeks? Or are you staying (temporarily) with family, friends, or acquaintances?

Please contact Surplus’s social work department. They’ll be happy to help you find a solution.

Please note: Social workers are there to help you find solutions to your housing problems. They have no influence over the allocation of housing units.

What can I do on my own to find a place to live?

There are several ways to arrange (temporary) housing. For example, you can:

  • Living with a friend, partner, or family member.
  • Register with Klik voor wonen and actively respond to their housing listings.

I am under 18 years old

Are you under 18 and homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless?

  • Try to find (temporary) shelter with a friend or family member.
  • Please contact the Moerdijk Center for Youth and Family (CJG). They cannot arrange housing for you, but they are happy to help you figure things out.
  • Would you rather talk to someone at school? Discuss it with your mentor or school social worker.
