Guarantee or Provision of Lodging

In some cases, visitors from abroad can only obtain a visa if someone in the Netherlands acts as their guarantor. This varies by country and depends on the visitor's income.

By providing a guarantee, you declare that you will be responsible for any costs incurred during the stay. You will also be held liable for any debts the visitor incurs. The guarantee is valid for up to three months.

Requests

Fill out the form for proof of financial support and/or housing. Take this form to the municipality where you are registered. To sign and have the guarantee statement certified, make an appointment to visit the municipality. Are you married or in a registered partnership? If so, both of you must come to city hall.

More than one visitor

Are you expecting more visitors? If so, you must request a certificate of guarantee for each visitor.

Bring along

• Stop by in person;
• A fully completed application form;
• Valid identification for the person(s) who signed the form.

After visiting the municipality, send the form to the person who is inviting you. The invited person must then take this form to the Dutch embassy or consulate to apply for a visa.
