Soil Management Memorandum

The Soil Management Policy sets forth the rules for applying soil. The most important principle here is that the quality of the soil to be applied must match the quality of the receiving soil. TheSoil Management Policydescribes the options for each zone and the conditions under which you may apply soil.

PFAS Addendum

A temporary framework for managing PFAS-contaminated soil has been in effect since 2019. To formalize this temporary framework, the Environmental Services in North Brabant, on behalf of the executive committees of the 57 participating municipalities, have drawn up aPFAS Soil Quality Map. 

The abbreviation PFAS stands for poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances. These are man-made substances that do not occur naturally in the environment. PFAS are used in many products. A well-known example is the nonstick coating on pans. As a result of this—and due to incidents—these substances have entered the environment and are now found in soil, dredged material, and surface water, among other places. Some PFAS have undesirable properties. They do not break down, or break down only minimally, in the environment and can be harmful.
